2025 Baby Name Trends 2025 Baby Name Trends

What baby name trends for 2025 will be big this year? Baby names are a hot topic when you’re pregnant, and choosing a baby name is a special decision for parents-to-be. If you’re looking for a perfect baby name that’s ahead of current popular baby name choices, here are ideas for five 2025 baby name trends we predict you’ll see popping up on your social media feeds and hear shouted out across playgrounds near you soon.

These naming trends include nature, music and popular-culture-themed names, with a look back to the 1970s and 1990s for nods to names that are both nostalgic and unusual.

Here are five 2025 baby name trends:

Nature-Themed Baby Names in 2025

Flower names, especially for girls, are classic choices. We think nature-inspired names for both girls and boys will be a top baby name trend in 2025 as parents increasingly look to the natural world for fresh name ideas.

Nature names are timeless, evoke a sense of peace when the world can seen chaotic, connect with the beauty of the natural world and reflect a love for the environment.

Female Pop Queen Names

Female pop acts reigned supreme in 2024, and look set to continue to dominate the charts in 2025. Surprisingly, the names of the most popular singers don’t currently appear at the top of baby name lists. If you’re looking for charming but less popular baby name trends for 2025, these names could hit the right note.

Given Taylor Swift’s ongoing success, only 58 girls and 132 boys were named Taylor last year. This could be a strong option if you’re looking for a less popular gender-neutral name.

Chappel Roan – real name Kayleigh Rose – who was recently named the BBC Sound of 2025, took her stage name as a tribute to her grandfather. However, only 17 baby girls were named Kayleigh in 2023, and Chappel does not yet appear on the latest UK list, meaning it was only given to two – or fewer – babies in the last recorded year.

Espresso singer Sabrina Carpenter spent 20 weeks at the top of the UK charts in 2024 and is nominated for six Grammy awards. However, only 71 babies were named Sabrina in 2023, so this could be an option for a less popular girl’s name. Glastonbury headliner SZA, real name Solána Imani Rowe, could also inspire naming trends as Solána does not appear in the current UK baby name list, while Imani was only given as a first name to 63 baby girls.

Searching for a classic, singer-inspired name for your baby in 2025? Singer Gracie Abrams’ name is a twist on the more traditional Grace, with only 554 babies named Gracie registered in the UK in 2023.

If you’re looking for classic and modern names with a fresh musical vibe, these could be a good place to start.

70s Names Set to Make A Comeback in 2025

Baby name choices tend to be cyclical, and the trend for the last decade in the UK has been names that were popular around a hundred years or so – like current UK top ten names Ivy, Lily, Arthur and Henry.

In terms of 2025 baby name trends, we think it’s time we looked back to the decade of love, the 1970s. For girls, 1970s names for girls are still surprisingly unpopular – Claire was only given to 25 baby girls last year, and Nicola only nine. 1970s popular boy name Mark is currently the 266th name for boys, while Paul is the 464th name for male babies. The 1970s could be a wealth of fresh baby name inspiration and retro, less common name choices for parents.

Celebrity And Popular Culture Names

Celebrity and popular culture has long had an impact on baby name choices among parents. With exciting film and TV releases due out this year, we think this trend is set to continue with celebrity and popular culture names as a key baby name trend for 2025.

Fans are eagerly awaiting the new series of Netflix show Stranger Things, due for release in 2025. Previously, Stranger Things has had a notable impact on baby name choices, with character names including Dustin, Max as a female name and Eleven making an appearance on the UK baby name list in 2022. With a new series set for release, we predict Stranger Things inspired names are set to be big in 2025.

Wicked, the film adaptation of the hit musical, is now the top-grossing film based on a Broadway musical and has grossed over $700+ million worldwide. The success of the film – with the second part due out in 2025 – will surely have an impact on parents’ name choices. Will we see main character names Glinda and Elphaba picked as popular name choices? Elphie – or alternative Elfie spelling – could also be a sweet choice.

Fans could also look to the main cast for inspiration. Ariana – for musician and actor Ariana Grande – was given to 322 baby girls in 2023, and Cynthia – for singing sensation Cynthia Erivo – was only given to 15 girls in 2023. Both are good options for lesser-used names with a celebrity twist.

In terms of boys, cast member names Ethan – for Ethan Slater – and Jonathan – for Jonathan Bailey – are both classic boys name choices. Jonathan is currently less common than you’d expect and is only the 258th most popular name for boys, while Ethan is a solid choice that’s the 47th most popular name for boys un the UK.

90s Nostalgia Names For Boys

With Oasis due to kick-off a sold-out tour in 2025, we predict a nostalgia naming trend for boys based on love for the Gallagher brothers. While Liam is currently the top US baby name for boys, it’s less popular in the UK and only appears on the current name list at number 71. Noel is even less popular, and was only given to 91 boys last year, appearing 431st on the UK baby name list for boys. We think 2025’s look back – hopefully not in anger - to the 1990s will see these two names storming up the charts.
