5 Pregnancy Trends For 2025 5 Pregnancy Trends For 2025

What are the key pregnancy trends for 2025? With our future-thinking caps on, we look at upcoming 2025 trends for babies, fertility and pregnancy.

These 2025 pregnancy trends include smart technology for parents, second hand maternity style, AI used for fertility treatments, more privacy in pregnancy and new and nostalgic baby name trends.

Here are 5 pregnancy trends for 2025

Smart Tech For Parents

Clever uses of smart tech developed in an innovative way to help parents? Sounds like a key trend of 2025. One example of such an innovation is a new product from British tech firm Elvie. Known for its wireless breast pump - a gamechanger for breastfeeding mums - Elvie recently unveiled its first baby product, the Elvie Rise, at consumer electronics trade show CES 2025. The Elvie Rise is a smart bouncer that transforms into a bassinet without parents needing to move the baby. The app-controlled bouncer can also record and mimic bounce patterns imputed by parents. The firm said the hybrid device will allow parents to get back more time and focus on their own wellbeing.

We await the tech innovations 2025 brings, but anything that helps simplify and improve life for new parents sounds like a potential win to us.

2025 Pregnancy Fashion Trend: Second Hand Pregnancy Style

Thrifted and pre-loved style is a growing trend, with the global second-hand fashion market projected to reach $77 billion by 2025. In the UK, online fashion-focused marketplace Vinted had a rapidly growing UK user base of 2.5 million in 2023 and is set for further expansion this year as buying and selling of pre-loved clothes takes off in a big way.

Following this trend, purchasing maternity clothes second hand is a smart and sustainable choice for mums-to-be. Not only do you save money, as maternity wear is typically only used for a short time, but you also reduce waste by giving items a second life. Second hand maternity clothes are a fraction of the price of buying new and can help you to build a stylish and functional wardrobe during pregnancy without breaking the bank.

We would love to see second hand maternity style become a mainstream choice in 2025. This is a pregnancy fashion trend that is better for the planet, your wardrobe and your wallet.

‘Hard Launching’ Your Baby

Would you announce your pregnancy only when the baby is here? Parents are choosing to pivot from the now-traditional online pregnancy announcement, regular bump updates and gender reveal video by revealing their pregnancy news once the baby is here.

Otherwise known as a ‘hard launch,’ this was the strategy adopted by actor Mindy Kaling, who announced that she now had a third baby, despite never publicly declaring that she was pregnant in the first place.

Mindy surprised fans when she took to Instagram in June 2024 to write:

‘In late February I gave birth to my daughter, Anne…I’m so lucky I live in a place where I could do this by myself, on my own timeline.’

In an era when social media share are the norm, more privacy in pregnancy could be a growing trend of 2025. However, announcing the news of your pregnancy or baby on your own terms, whenever that may be, remains a timeless trend.

AI And Tech In Fertility Care

Can AI help with IVF success rates? While the use of AI remains a hotly debated topic, a big growth area is in fertility treatment, where fertility doctors increasingly use it to identify the most viable embryos for treatments and the optimal time for egg retrieval. This was recently a topic of discussion on BBC Women’s Hour.

Other fertility-focused smart tech products and services new to 2025, announced at CES, include at-home saliva and urine tests that measure fertility hormones, and fertility apps that provide a 360-degree approach to fertility care at home by using data from wearable smart watches to provide a wider overview of your body.

Anything that simplifies and improves the fertility journey for parents-to-be is worth celebrating, so this is a key pregnancy trend to watch in 2025.
