Ultra Red Krill Oil takes the Omega-3 phospholipid form, rather than the Omega-3 triglyceride form found in fish and cod liver oils.
Phospholipids are key structural components of our cell membranes, which are involved in the transport of molecules across the cell membrane. Ultra Red Krill Oil provides Omega-3 in phospholipid form, mainly as phosphatidylcholine, which means it is more easily transported across cell membranes to where it is utilised.
Omega-3 phospholipids follow simpler digestion and distribution routes in the human body. Simpler digestion in the small intestine before absorption is one of the possible reasons for the greater uptake of Omega-3 phospholipids in the human body compared with standard Omega-3 triglycerides.
