Mark Foster is the world's fastest man in water, and he competes in the freestyle and butterfly 50m sprint disciplines. The relatively short distance over which he competes in a race, dictates that his training regime has a particular emphasis on upper body strength and maximum power output.
"In a 50m race, I'm only actually swimming for just over 20 seconds, so my training regime is designed to build lots of power, especially in the upper body which provides about 85% of total energy output in the sprints. In training, I target my shoulders, triceps and lats, but avoid excessive muscle bulk which reduces the streamline qualities of the body."
"The 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly events are all about power. But of course power comes at the expense of energy, and I therefore need to ensure that my body is converting the food I eat into energy as efficiently as possible. Wellman helps me to maintain optimum energy release as it provides the whole family of b vitamins including B3 - needed by the body for the production of the enzymes NAD and NADP, which are essential for the efficient release of energy from digested food. Wellman tablet formulation also provides 2mg of C0-enzyme Q10 and 30mg of L-Carnitine - both of which help to maintain lean muscle mass." Mark Foster – Professional swimmer

"Personal use of the Wellman products
has allowed me to stay supple and energised which when training for endurance events like Ironman or RAAM is exactly what you need to allow you to carry on training. I have no doubt that without the extra source of vitamins and minerals that I would not have been able to compete at this level in sport and would not have been able to recover so quickly from the hard training sessions, week on week. The products are available in an easy to use combination of tablets along with the refreshing canned drink for recovery."
