Three things to do outdoors this Easter holidays:

Follow the Highway Rat around the forest: The Highway Rat is the latest Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler book to be brought to life on the Forestry Commission’s UK-wide forest trails. Follow panels and discover the forest as you head on a journey with The Highway Rat and all the characters from the story. More info is here.

Visit a National Trust property: From Cadbury’s egg hunts to costal walks, there’s a lot more than you’d expect taking place at National Trust properties across the country. Here’s a guide to what to expect this Easter.

Have a big day out with Peter Rabbit: Everyone’s favourite new-to-the-big-screen bunny will be gracing Kew Gardens this Easter, with activities and events for the whole family. Find out more here.

Three things to do indoors this Easter holidays:

Go to a museum: Take advantage of the weather and head indoors to a museum; if you’re near London, we like the sound of the brand new Nordic design-themed exhibition at the Museum of Childhood. Worried it’ll be crazy busy? Google the busiest times to avoid, go early or late and don't eat there during the middle of the day.

Easter crafting and cooking: Make sure you read our round-up of ten brilliant Easter-themed crafts and cooking activities. Perfect for a rainy day, or even a rainy weekend. Grab the glitter and glue guns and get stuck in. If you're left with lots of leftover chocolate - we know, surely not! - then read our guide to five fun things to do with leftover Easter eggs.

Have an indoor picnic, cinema party or even life-sized arts and crafts: And lots more ideas in our rainy day activities guide.
